Another challenge was showcasing the enormous breadth of what Edinburgh City Mission does, while keeping the video concise.
Anam worked closely with the charity to make sure that the core of each interview was not lost on the cutting floor. To explore them more individually, Anam created a series of native, social media posts exploring each interview in more detail.
While it is not always easy stepping in front of the camera directly, Duncan (CEO) did an amazing job at representing the heart and soul of the charity. As his role was to speak directly to the audience, speaking to the camera directly, from a script, was the best way to film.
While the rest of the video is made up of un-scripted interviews, helping the rest of the team to relax and speak comfortably and openly. This was so important as many of the team having never spoken on film like this before
While the approach to the filmmaking was minimilst, creativity is always an undercurrent in the editing suite, as well as on location. Storytelling is always the focus, but creative production an ever present, underlying feature of all of Anam's work.
